Timeline for entry in 2026
Children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 will be moving up to secondary school in September 2026.

9 and 11 September 2025 - Practice and Transfer Tests
10 October 2025 - Secondary Transfer Test results released

May – June 2025
Registration for the Buckinghamshire Secondary Transfer Test (11+). Children in state-funded primary schools in Buckinghamshire are automatically entered for the test. Parents/carers of children in schools which are not Buckinghamshire state-funded or which are not Buckinghamshire partner schools must complete the registration process at this time. 1st September 2025
Most grammar schools will use this as the cut-off date for the home address for applicants in the first round of allocations. However, it is important to check the Admissions Policy of whichever grammar schools you are targeting. If your home address changes after this date, your previous address will still be used in the first round of allocations.

September 2025
Children sit the Practice Test (usually on the Tuesday) and then sit the Transfer Test (usually on the Thursday). For this academic year, the dates are Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th September 2025.
Children who attend a state-funded Buckinghamshire primary school or Partner School will sit the Practice Test and Transfer Test in their school. Children who attend any other school will sit the Practice Test and the Transfer Test at a grammar school test centre. If capacity in the grammar school test centres is exceeded, a further testing session may be organised for a different date.

Results are emailed to parents after 4pm. The date for receipt of results is Friday 10th October 2025.

The deadline to submit a secondary school application to your home local authority.
